OUR TREATMENTS

Radiofrequency Ablation

Used to destroy cancer cells. This involves a heat generating source to burn the tumour by producing heat at sufficient depth to kill off cancer cells. Performed under general anaesthetic, it is not possible in patients with large tumours, gross ascites (fluid in the abdomen) and those with obstructive jaundice. Side effects may include pyrexia (high temperature), bleeding, pain, burn injuries and biliary leaks, with the last two occurring less frequently and all side effects monitored and treated accordingly. It requires a hospital stay of usually between 1 and 2 nights and as a therapy is performed by our Radiologists or Surgeons. For further information please contact us.
