Liver Cancer
Liver Cancer (HCC) Hepatocellular Carcinomas:
HCC of the left lobe of the liver
Treatment for HCC is based upon the size, volume and location of the tumour and whether there is any disease in the surrounding liver tissue. Referral to an HPB specialist should be done as soon as there is suspicion of HCC or confirmation from another medical practitioner. Surgical removal or liver transplantation is the only form of cure but treatments to slow or halt growth of the tumour are increasingly valid ways for delaying the course of the disease process, and can in some instances increase the chances for later surgery.
